Jimmy Borto

Producer | Director | Writer | Actor

Jimmy Borto was born on July 26th 1967, in Tel Tamer, Syria. The oldest of four children, of Assyrian immigrants, he has made the Chicago area his home for four decades. He attended NEIU to play football and pursue acting, where he was awarded a theater scholarship. While there, he took a great interest in writing and filmmaking, even transferring to Columbia College briefly to pursue those goals. He attended writing workshops at various academies, including Second City. During the early nineties, Jimmy worked in advertising as a copywriter for Scott Ross Limited, where he worked on campaigns for Dad’s Rootbeer (Monarch Beverages) and Willy Wonka Candies. At the same time, he worked feverishly on a myriad of writing projects, including short stories, poetry, and a deluge of screenplays. Growing impatient with less than stellar literary agents, Jimmy decided to begin shooting his own films, beginning with projects such as “Jack and Jill, and Bob”, “The Intervention of Roger Zivkov”, and “Draw.” When he’s not behind his laptop polishing up screenplays, short stories, or his novel (Feral Chamber), and not working on his many inventions (Cover Keeper, Check For Child, etc.), he can be found on the golf course. He is currently working on the preproduction of “WITH A TWIST”, another original work he plans on directing in the fall of 2011.
